Different games of keno

Keno is a very popular game and can be found at most casinos and online casinos. Because there are really three different “games” of keno, keno is a relatively broad term. As you can imagine, there is a slight difference between playing keno live in a casino and playing from your computer at home.

Live Keno

Live keno, often simply referred to as keno, is when you play in person at a casino with an actual card and crayon or some other marking device. With live keno, you are usually in a room with other people playing the same game. You will be handed a card with 80 numbers on it and you select how many numbers you want. Every casino varies, but most casinos have a maximum of 10, 15, or 20 numbers.

Once you have selected your numbers by marking them, you bring your card up to the counter and hand the host your bet amount and your card. You will be given a receipt to prove that you have made your bet and paid. About a minute after the betting has been closed, the numbers will be drawn.

The way the numbers are drawn in live keno is very similar to the way the numbers are drawn for the lottery. There will be 80 ping-pong-type balls, each with a different number on them from 1 to 80. All the balls are placed in a clear container with air blowing them around. One at a time, 20 numbers are drawn out of the container. Those 20 numbers that are drawn are the winning numbers and everyone in the room plays off of those same numbers.

Video Keno

The other two games of keno are not played in person with other players. Video keno is usually played in a casino, but is on a machine that looks like a slot machine. You can play more games per hour with this type of keno because you don’t have to wait for all the other players.

You place your bet electronically instead of to a host at the counter. Then, once you place your bet, instead of getting a card and marking it, a simulated card will be displayed on the screen. These games are usually on a touch-screen machine, so you simply touch the numbers that you want to select.

Once you have selected your numbers, the winning numbers will be drawn. Instead of using a large clear container to draw the numbers, the numbers are randomly selected by a computer. This also makes the game go faster because the computer selects the numbers instantly instead of one at a time.

Internet Keno

Internet keno is the other game of keno and it is almost exactly the same as video keno. There are only a few differences between the two. For instance, you usually play video keno in a casino and on a machine made specifically for keno. However, with internet keno you usually play at home on your personal computer. Also, instead of touching the screen to select the numbers you want, you click on them with your mouse. Those are the only differences between internet keno and video keno.

The best way for you to decide which type of keno you like best is to play them all. Every casino also has different payouts and allows you to select a different amount of numbers. Play at whichever casino allows you to pick the amount of numbers you want and has the best payouts for that amount of numbers.
